Nestled in the trees of Hurst Grange Park Penwortham lies a wonderful piece of local history and a community opportunity.

The Coach House dates back to 1850 when it was built as part of the estate of Hurst Grange, a large Victorian mansion from which the park takes its name. The mansion was demolished just before the outbreak of the Second World War, however the coach house remains and is now in public ownership.

Over the years the building has served a number of purposes from its origins of housing horses and coaches to a council depot and scout group base.

Unfortunately in more recent times it has fallen into a poor state of affairs and is unable to be used to it’s full potential. Thankfully a pro-active and enthusiastic group of local residents have come to its rescue and formed the Friends Of Hurst Grange Park Restoration Group to lead a campaign to restore the Coach House and allow it to become an integral part of the local community.

This is our website, please visit regularly to see where the restoration is up to and how you can get involved!
